FAQ
Common questions
The quickest way to find an answer.
How do I get started?
Open Sortis and pick a mode from the Draw tab: Wheel, Dice, Coin, Teams, Raffle, Order, or Numbers. You can type names in on the spot, or save them first as a pool from the Poolstab if you'll reuse the same list later.
How do I prove a draw was fair?
Every draw leaves proof. On a result screen, tap Verify this draw, or Share proof to send its share code to someone else. They can paste that code into Verify in their own copy of Sortis, and it re-runs the draw from its seed to confirm the result matches exactly.
What does "Publish hash before drawing" do?
It commits to the outcome before it happens. Sortis shows you a hash to publish anywhere public (a group chat, a stream, a post) before you tap draw. Afterward, revealing the seed proves the result matches the hash you already published, so it couldn't have been picked after the fact.
You can make this the default under Settings › Draw behaviour.
Can I back up or export my pools and history?
Yes. Everything lives only on your device, so export exists for exactly this reason. Go to Settings › Data to export your pools or your draw history as CSV files, and import pools back in from a file on a new device.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Sortis has no sign-up and no login. There's nothing to delete either: uninstalling the app removes every pool, entry, draw record, and setting, because none of it ever left your device.
What's the tip jar, and do I have to use it?
It's entirely optional. Sortis is free with every feature unlocked from the start. If you want to support the app, Settings › Support Sortis › Leave a tip offers a small, medium, or large one-time tip. It doesn't unlock anything, because there's nothing left to unlock.
My raffle or wheel ran out of names. What happened?
A “no repeat” draw removes each winner so they can't be picked again. Tap Reseton that mode's screen to put everyone back in.
What devices does Sortis support?
iPhone running iOS 16 or later, and Android phones running Android 10 (API 29)or later. Sortis doesn't need an internet connection for any draw, pool, history, or verify feature: it works fully offline.
